32 bit Java under Ubuntu 64 bit
1. Install 32bit support for ubuntu 64 bit
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-multiarch:i386
2. Download and setup java 32bit on ubuntu

Netbeans
Bigger fonts in netbeans. Add the following to /netbeans_install_dir/etc/netbeans.conf
netbeans_default_options=" [...] fontsize 14"
Swing
Swing Parameter for better aliased fonts:
